I don't find faith at all boring, although I would still argue that it's not for everyone. I can understand it from a rational perspective: Catholicism takes an extremely rigid and literal approach to its beliefs, and I think there are a few misconceptions about it. The first misconception is that "Catholic" a religious body. If you look at Catholic websites, you'll see headlines like: "If you like to have sex a priest, you might be Catholic." It doesn't help that the Church has a bit of an image problem right now: it's hard to tell if their website is actually run by priests, or whether they hire some unqualified hack to write a few sentences for the front page every five minutes. But most importantly, that misconception is "Catholic" refers to a religious structure. Catholicism doesn't have a single structure, it has many different kinds of structures. And it's entirely possible to be Catholic without believing in any particular church. I'm not the most "Catholic" person I know—it's hard not to be, be honest—but I don't fit neatly into some stereotype of what the word means. But before I come back to Catholicism, have one last point to make about the church. I'm a pretty active atheist who believes strongly in science. But the more I've learned about how much lies with religion, the less and I find myself able to relate it.
